The Greek Startup Compensation Report 2025

To our knowledge, this report is the only free and open resource providing in-depth compensation and equity information for companies and professionals operating in the startup industry in Greece. We first introduced this report in 2021 and continued in 2022. We are excited to bring it back into the spotlight this year, with this edition led by Sanne Goslinga

The participating companies were asked to provide detailed compensation data for each role based in Greece and to align each role with a job family (department), job title, track, level, and years of experience to ensure consistency across seniority levels and roles. In addition, all companies provided demographic information (gender, age range, and location) and whether they award equity.

Data from 24 companies and over 1,700 employees was collected, totalling more than 22,000 data points. The survey includes companies from early to later stages (with a majority at Series A and B), offering a broad view of the current industry landscape. Here is the full participants list.

Participating Companies

We have created a dashboard to provide an easily accessible overview of compensation for each department by level, role, experience, or technology (engineering only). The tool additionally displays equity distribution, gender breakdown, work setting, and location. You are welcome to explore the full data in our 2025 compensation dashboard.

The survey results focus on the 10th and 90th percentiles of annual gross compensation (14 salaries plus bonus, where applicable) per role. We chose this approach to exclude outliers and provide a realistic and accurate picture of compensation ranges. We also provide the median for each role, i.e. the point at which 50% of employers pay at or below, and 50% pay at or above. For full transparency, we also indicate the number of responders each query relates to, dynamically updated as you navigate the dataset.

Below is an overview of compensation data for fifteen popular roles. A much more extensive list, covering functions such as Administration, Marketing (incl. Communications), Data, Design, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Product, Sales, Support, and General Management, can be found on our dashboard.

In addition to compensation, companies were asked whether each role was granted equity. Across the entire dataset, 23% of roles receive equity — though this varies significantly by company size and department. For example, in early-stage companies (5–25 employees), equity awards can be far more common, reaching up to 90% of roles.

Of the data collected, 93% of roles are either remote (23%) or hybrid (70%), with the remaining 7% being fully office-based. It is worth noting that hybrid can range from 1 to 4 days per week in the office.

Group 698

Almost half of the dataset refers to engineering roles. These remain heavily male-dominated compared to departments such as Legal, Human Resources, Administration, and Marketing. As a result, the overall gender split across the report is 62% male and 38% female. A more detailed breakdown by department is available on the dashboard.

We believe that knowledge is power and that transparency and knowledge sharing are essential for helping employees and companies grow and succeed. We would like to thank all companies that participated, and especially Sanne for leading this effort.
