Marathon VC is recognized as Top 10 Fund in Europe by Pitchbook

PitchBook’s 2025 Annual Manager Performance Score League Tables benchmark private capital managers across 29 strategic and geographic categories by historical performance. In this year’s edition, Marathon Venture Capital is recognized among the top 10 venture capital firms in Europe. It is worth pausing on where that performance was built. Since our founding, our focus has remained singular: leading seed rounds for ambitious Greek and European founders building category-defining technology companies for global markets from day one. Combining exceptional regional engineering talent, capital discipline, and high-conviction partnership is the core thesis this recognition reflects. What the ranking measures
The League Tables benchmark fund managers strictly against peers of similar strategy and vintage, rather than relying on headline IRRs alone. It provides founders and LPs with an objective standard to distinguish consistent, disciplined execution from a single lucky outlier fund. Rather than measuring raw returns, PitchBook calculates each fund's excess return against its peer group median and translates that into a standardized 0–100 score (with 50 being neutral). A top score reflects sustained outperformance across a manager's entire fund family.
Watershed moment
We couldn't be prouder for what our little team and ecosystem has achieved over the last decade. We started in a country at the brink of financial collapse only to outperform most established ecosystems across Europe and we are just getting started.
We have been the first generalist VC fund to invest in defense, we did hardware when everyone was chasing crypto momentum and backed iconic companies like Hack The Box when offensive security was a no go.
If are an equally ambitious European founder giving zero f*cks about the status quo let's talk!
